At 7:50 a.m., police responded to the intersection of Tualatin Valley Highway and Imlay Street after a teenage driver hit a 55-year-old man who was riding on a two-wheeled Schwinn push scooter on the sidewalk. Police said the man on the scooter suddenly went off the sidewalk and veered into the west-bound lane of the road, right into the path of a 1996 Toyota Camry which was driven by an 18-year-old Beaverton man.

The driver, whom police said was driving 35 mph at the time, could not stop in time to avoid the hitting the man on the scooter and hit him with the front of the Camry. The man on the scooter suffered multiple injuries as a result of the crash and was life-flighted to OHSU for medical treatment.

No citations have been issued and T.V. Highway will remain closed between Brookwood Avenue and Century Boulevard for the next three hours in order continue with investigation

Police have not released the names of the driver or man who was on the scooter who was injured.
